About The Film

When the world shut down, choreographer Troy Schumacher and the dancers of New York City Ballet dared to dream the impossible.

Set in New York’s breathtaking Hudson Valley, the film follows Troy and his fellow artists as they reimagine a beloved holiday tradition during the darkest winter of 2020, bringing dancers back to the stage, audiences into the story, and magic back to Christmas.

A celebration of resilience, creativity, and the power of art, The Nutcracker at Wethersfield reminds us why dance matters, why community matters, and why the holidays shine brightest when we come together.

THE New York Times Performance Review

“A fantasy you can enter…”

"You may have seen the The Nutcracker countless times. Watching it every year might be a holiday tradition. But have you ever been inside it?"

"This dreamlike experience — and how it is sustained — is the great achievement of The Nutcracker at Wethersfield,”
